One of the most common mistakes made by people who want to lose weight and eat healthy is thinking that healthy and balanced food is boring and tasteless.
Whenever most people hear the words ‘healthy food’ they think of dry chicken breast, grilled fish, broccoli and oats.
Healthy eating means consuming the right amount of food from all nutritious categories combined in thousands of different recipes, would not only supply your body with the energy it needs to function, but would also leave your taste buds happy.
Having a balanced daily diet excludes fast food (such as pizza, sandwiches, pastry etc.), packed meals (such as chips, chocolate bars, biscuits etc.) and all types of fried food (such as French toast, fries) and sugary drinks (which contain sugar and preservatives).
That means you must stop eating food that is easily found on every street corner and kebab shop. Yes, it will feel you up for a short period of time, but it won’t really provide your body with an adequate amount of the nutrients it needs.
Junk food contains free radicals (excessive amount of free radicals could lead to the mutation of healthy cells into cancerous cells) and trans fats and sugars. Those substances, commonly found in the aforementioned foods, can seriously damage your endocrine system and particularly its insulin producing function- leading to development of diabetes!
In addition, unhealthy food is stored in your body in the form of subcutaneous tissue (fat). The consequent development of cellulitis and the associated water retention in turn impair kidney function and could also trigger a number of different health conditions, inherent to modern society.
Healthy eating is a must if you want to feel good in your own skin. You need to provide your body with the right amounts of varied and highly nutritious food in order to supply it with enough energy to keep its healthy functioning.
There is no other diet that is richer, more diverse and delicious than the healthy one! And yet, people still manage to find an excuse – there is no time to cook at home for one reason or another, they cannot plan meals in advance due to lack of willpower or simply don’t know what, when or where they will be eating tomorrow.
And it is in moments like this when you could easily slip up and fall in the trap of eating these little ‘indulgences’, available everywhere and costing you no effort whatsoever. You just buy it, keep walking and eating unhealthy (fast – easy-harmful).
