Values, goal setting or why some people are successful and others aren’t?

Have you ever asked yourself why some people are successful? They go into prestigious universities, become managers of strong companies, have own business or get to the highest levels of some kind of sport. This kind of people are successful even in simple things like losing 5-10-15-20 kilograms or gaining 5-10 kilograms muscle mass. Probably you are wondering how do they manage to keep a great shape and to contrive with all of the everyday tasks like work, studying, family, house work and besides they cook for the next day and train. Have you ever asked the question “How these people manage to do everything?”. What is the difference in their actions compared to yours? And why there are people who always fail why do they find excuses all the time, why don’t they even take easy steps to overcome things that make them feel incomplete, unsuccessful and miserable?

I often think that I succeed to bereft myself of some pleasures and to get out of the comfort zone, because these are the initial required conditions to get to the next little victory. I’m a person without a car, without a fridge and microwave at work, but I wear my backpack full with clothes, cans of food, I manage to eat regularly with healthy food, to work with 8-10 clients a day, to train and do cardio sometimes even twice a day? At the same time many other people who have all these amenities find pseudo reasons, which are an obstacle for complying a food mode, training. They are a setback to pay attention to yourself and feel good about yourself.

Is it really so hard to train four times a week for an hour, to take 30 minutes every evening to prepare healthy food for the next day or to exude 20 minutes twice a week for jogging in the park?

Healthy food

Healthy food

The truth is that pleasure is one of the people values. The pleasure of good food in combination with a glass of red wine, the pleasure of laying in front of the TV after a long work day and to watch an interesting movie, or to read an interesting book, the pleasure to go out with friends at dinner and to enjoy good music, luxury cheese and fine Italian wine, the pleasure of laying home all the weekend without even changing your pajamas. Naturally, a person can feel larger pleasure derived by work, sports and others. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to equalize laziness with pleasure!

If pleasure in its physical form is more important than the health, good vision, self-respect and the inner satisfaction from all achieved goal, then everything turns into an unceasing, exhausting fight, in whose epicenter is the lack of purposefulness. If this is your case, then this will lead to the search of excuses all the time. I’m also a person who loves the physical satisfaction, but I care more about the way I look, about my health and about my  internal welfare. And after I want to look in a certain way, I’m definitely aware with the fact, that I have to deprive from the abovementioned pleasures, so that I can achieve my goal.

When in my consciousness comes out the dilemma “Why shouldn’t I drink this fine Spanish wine with this French cheese, to eat this Lindor candy etc.”, there comes the other question “What is a priority for me – to eat and drink, to indulge my senses and to feel satisfaction right here and right now (and this Is not happening once a month) or to choose to achieve my long-term goals? In every moment like this a “red signal” comes in my mind that reminds me that every single forbidden temptation takes me away from my goal. Every little physical pleasure is stalking me to prevent me from reaching my final ultimate pleasure – to look like I have always dreamed.

When you ask me how do I wear boxes of food everywhere, how I don’t go to lunch with my colleagues, what would my friends think if I only drink water at the restaurant or when you utter the excuses that you have no time to cook, that a friend of yours has a birthday and you have to honor him and  eat a candy, ask yourself – which Is more important for you? The chocolate or the reflection in the mirror that you see? And don’t think that one candy or one glass of wine won’t do you any harm and won’t reflect on your goals to lose 5-10-15-20 kilograms, because it will!
